Metamorphic Rocks are created from either igneious or sedimentary rocks.

Metamorphic rocks are formed when ignious rock or sedimentary rock is under tonnes of pressure and heat which changes the rock to metamorphic rock.

Schist, Gneiss are both examples of metamorphic rock.

Schist is created from Basalt (igneious rock), Shale (sedimentary rock) or slate (a metamorphic rock)

Gneiss is created from granite which is an igneous rock.
